How to Use Ping Test
What is Ping?
Ping is a network utility used to test the reachability of a host on an IP network. It measures the round-trip time for messages sent from the originating host to a destination computer.
Single Ping Test
- Enter a domain name (e.g., google.com) or IP address (e.g., 8.8.8.8)
- Select the number of ping packets to send
- Click "Run Ping Test"
- View the results showing latency, packet loss, and statistics
Bulk Ping Test
- Enter multiple hosts (one per line) in the text area
- You can test up to 10 hosts at once
- Click "Run Bulk Ping Test"
- View results for all hosts
Understanding Results
- Latency (ms): Time taken for a packet to reach the destination and return
- Packet Loss: Percentage of packets that didn't receive a response
- Min/Avg/Max: Minimum, average, and maximum latency times
Common Use Cases
- Testing network connectivity
- Diagnosing network issues
- Measuring network latency
- Verifying DNS resolution
- Monitoring server uptime
Tip: Lower ping times (latency) indicate better network performance. Values under 50ms are excellent, 50-100ms are good, and over 100ms may indicate network congestion or distance.
